The Comfort of God’s Unchanging Word
Reflection
Have you noticed how much the world has changed in your lifetime? We have gone from handwritten letters to instant messages, and from quiet streets to a world that never seems to stop talking. Even our own lives change—our roles, our health, and our surroundings.
But there is a deep, soul-level comfort in knowing that the Bible you read today is the same anchor that guided your grandparents and will guide your grandchildren. God’s promises do not have an “expiration date.” His words of comfort are just as powerful today as they were when they were first spoken to the prophets.
When we open the Scriptures, we are not just reading ancient history; we are hearing the current voice of our Creator. When He says, “I will never leave you,” He means it as much in 2026 as He did in the first century.
His Nearness is found in His Truth. When everything else feels shaky, the Word of God is our solid ground. It provides:
- Stability when the news is upsetting.
- Direction when we feel confused about the future.
- Peace that the world simply cannot provide.
Today, if you feel overwhelmed by the changes around you, go back to the “Old, Old Story.” Let the unchanging nature of God’s Word remind you that while the “grass withers” and the “seasons change,” the One who holds you remains the same.
A Voice of Wisdom.
“Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years.” — Charles Spurgeon
Rest Reflection
Open your Bible to a favorite verse—perhaps Psalm 23 or John 14. Read it slowly, realizing that these words have stood the test of thousands of years. They have comforted millions of people before you, and they are here for you right now. As you think about God’s steady Word, you might want to sing or hum the chorus of “Standing on the Promises”:
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.”
Personal Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your Word. In a world that changes so fast, I am so grateful that Your promises never change. When I feel uncertain, help me to find my footing in Your Truth. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path today. Amen.
