Day 6: Desires of the Heart
Bible Verse
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4
Reflection
As we grow older, the things we want often change. When we are young, we have big ambitions. But as the years pass, those desires soften. We begin to long for simpler things: peace, connection, meaning, and the assurance that we are loved.
A woman once shared with me, “Chaplain, I don’t want much anymore—just peace in my heart and peace in my family.” Her words were simple, but they were very important. As we prayed together, I saw how God was gently bringing her heart closer to His.
To “delight in the Lord” does not mean we pretend everything is perfect. It means we turn our eyes toward Him, even when life is uncertain. When we find our joy and our hope in God, our desires begin to change. We start to want what He wants for us.
God does not ignore what you want. He sees the prayers you have whispered for years. He knows the hopes you have kept quiet. In His perfect timing, He brings an answer. Sometimes, He answers the prayer directly. Other times, He gives you an unexpected peace that changes how you feel.
Remember: God sees the longings you have carried for a lifetime.
He knows exactly what you need.
“Delight in God, and your desires find their true home.”
A Simple Prayer
Lord, help me to find my greatest joy in You. Shape my heart to want what You want for me. Thank You for listening to every prayer I whisper. Amen.
A Blessing for You
May the Lord lift your heart today. May He meet your deepest needs with His perfect love and fill your spirit with new joy.
