Safe in His Love
Reflection
Fear can stay in our hearts for a long time. As we age, we may face new fears that we never had before. We might worry about getting sick, being a burden to others, or what will happen in the days ahead.
I once sat with a man who shared his heart very honestly: “Chaplain, I’m not afraid of dying. I’m afraid of dying alone.” As we prayed together, I noticed his hands stopped shaking. His fear did not vanish instantly, but something shifted. He realized that even in a quiet room, he was not alone because God was right there with him.
His Nearness is your Shield. God’s love is strong enough to quiet your loudest worried thoughts, yet it is gentle enough to comfort a tired heart. When fear feels like a dark cloud, God’s love is the light that breaks through.
You do not have to go looking for God when you are afraid. He is already there, standing beside you. When fear speaks loudly, God’s quiet voice is even louder. He says, “I am with you. I have held you for eighty years, and I will hold you today.” Fear loses its power the moment you realize how close God truly is.

Rest Reflection
Take a moment to identify one specific fear you are carrying today. Now, imagine yourself handing that fear over to Jesus, like giving a heavy package to a strong friend. As you let go of that weight, you might want to hum:
This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.”
Personal Prayer
Lord, thank You for being so near to me. Let Your perfect love wash over my worries today. Calm my heart and steady my mind when I feel overwhelmed. Remind me that I am never alone because You are right here. Amen.
