Day 15 — Carried by Grace
Scripture
“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he,
I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you.” — Isaiah 46:4
Reflection
One of the most beautiful things about God is that He never changes. In a world where everything shifts—our health, our routines, and even our roles in the family—God remains the same. He is the “I AM.” This means the same God who held you when you were a child is the same God holding you right now.
I once sat with a woman who was struggling with her changing health. She looked at me with tired eyes and said, “Chaplain, for my whole life, I was the one who carried everyone else. Now, I’m the one who needs to be carried. It makes me feel so small.”
Her remarks express an emotion that resonates with many people as they grow older. We fear becoming a “burden.” But when we looked at Isaiah 46:4 together, we saw a different picture. God doesn’t say He will carry us until we get old and then stop. He says He will carry us, especially when we are old. He says, “I have made you, and I will carry you.”
His Nearness means He is your Strength. * When your legs feel weak, He carries your weight.
- When your heart feels tired, He sustains your spirit.
- When you feel “small” or needy, He reminds you that you are His treasure.
You are not a burden to God. A mother does not find her baby too heavy to hold, and God never finds you too heavy to carry. He is the Creator; He designed you, He knows every season you’ve walked through, and He loves the person you are today.
You do not have to be strong enough to walk the path alone. You only need to be willing to lean back into Him. From birth to your last moment, you are continually held and supported by the One who never lets you go.
Rest Reflection
Think of a time in your life when you felt completely “carried” by God’s grace.
He is the same God today.
If you feel like singing, the words to “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”
are a perfect way to end this day.
Personal Prayer
Lord, thank You for the promise that You will carry me even to my old age. When I feel weak or like I am “too much” for others, remind me that I am Your precious child. Thank You for sustaining me and staying so very near to me. Amen.
A Blessing for You
May you feel the everlasting arms of God underneath you today. May He carry your worries, sustain your body, and fill your soul with the peace of being completely loved.
A Thought to Remember
“You are never too heavy for the arms of God.”
