The God Who Hears
Reflection
There are prayers we remember praying, and there are prayers we forgot we ever whispered. As a senior, you carry decades of petitions in your heart. Some were answered quickly. Others were answered slowly. Some were answered in ways you never expected.
Years ago, I came across a story about a woman who had been praying for her son for thirty years. For a long time, she thought God was silent. Then one day, things changed. She realized that God had been moving the whole time, just beneath the surface. She said, “I see now—God was working long before I ever knew it.”
His Nearness means He is Listening. Answered prayer does not always look like the solution we imagined. Sometimes God answers by opening a door. Sometimes He answers by closing one. Sometimes He changes our situation, and sometimes He changes our hearts.
Every answer is rooted in His goodness. There are prayers you offered with tears that He has not forgotten. God’s timing is not a “delay”—it is a design. You do not have to shout to get His attention. He is so close that He hears your thoughts before you even utter them. He is never in a hurry, and He never misses a single word you say.
A Voice of Wisdom.
“God’s acquaintance is not made by a hurried visit… it is the result of long, secret, and patient waiting upon Him.” — E.M. Bounds
Rest Reflection
Can you see a prayer that God answered in a way you did not expect at the time? Take a moment to thank Him for that hidden answer. As you trust His listening ear, you might want to hum:
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow, after the shower is gone.”
Personal Prayer
Lord, thank You for hearing me even before I speak. Help me to trust Your timing and Your perfect wisdom. Whether the answer is “yes,” “no,” or “wait,” help me to feel Your nearness and trust Your love above all else. Amen.
A Blessing for You
May you trust God’s answers today—whether they come quickly or slowly. May His wisdom guide your prayers, and may His faithfulness give your heart a deep and lasting peace.
