Introducing—Our New Advent Series.

A Journey Through Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love

Dear Friends, as we enter this sacred season of Advent, I am excited to share a special series with you: An Advent Journey for the Seasoned Soul.

Over the next four weeks leading to Christmas, we will walk together through the traditional themes of Advent—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love—and discover how these timeless truths speak powerfully to us in our later years.

What to Expect:

Each week, I will share a reflection designed specifically for those of us in the “next chapter” of life—those who have accumulated years of wisdom, weathered many storms, and learned what truly matters. These are not abstract theological concepts. They are lived realities, tested in the furnace of real life and proven true.

  • Week 1: Vigilant Hope – Waiting with confident expectation for God’s promises. Read here...
  • Week 2: Prophetic Peace – Finding God’s supernatural calm in life’s chaos
  • Week 3: Unexpected Joy – Discovering gladness in the most unlikely places
  • Week 4: Merciful Love – Celebrating the love that came down at Christmas
  • Christmas: Emmanuel – God With Us – The gift of God’s presence in every season

Why This Series Matters:

Advent becomes richer with age. You understand waiting in ways younger people cannot. You have hoped through long seasons and watched God prove faithful. You have found peace in storms. You have discovered joy in the wilderness. You have loved and been loved through decades.

This series honors your journey. It speaks to where you are now—acknowledging the losses and limitations while celebrating the depth, wisdom, and beauty that come with years lived in faith.

Join Me:

Each Sunday of Advent, I will post a new reflection here on Chapel Notes. I invite you to:

  • Read thoughtfully and prayerfully
  • Light your Advent candles at home as we journey together
  • Share your own stories in the comments
  • Pass these reflections on to others who might need them

Whether this is your 50th Advent or your 90th, whether you are surrounded by family or walking this season alone, I pray these reflections will prepare your heart—not just for Christmas Day, but for the ultimate Advent when Christ comes for you.

The God who came at Christmas walks with you now. And He will come again. Let us wait together with hope, peace, joy, and love.

Maranatha – Come, Lord Jesus!

Note: These Advent reflections will also be compiled into a downloadable devotional booklet. Stay tuned for more details!

  • Advent Week 1: Vigilant Hope

    Advent Week 1: Vigilant Hope

Advent 1 – Hope Hope doesn’t always arrive as a bright light or a sudden breakthrough. Sometimes it comes quietly—like the first candle we light on the Advent wreath. Small, steady, but enough. Over the years, I’ve learned that hope isn’t naïve optimism. It’s the kind of hope that grows after walking through long nights,…

PRAYER (Series)
Prayer—Your lifeline, Your legacy, and Your living.

This devotional series invites you to rediscover prayer—not as a hard task, but as your lifeline. It is a constant thread woven through every season: strength and struggle, youth and age, clarity and confusion. Whether you’re just beginning your faith journey or have walked with God for decades, prayer remains your most powerful connection. It is where legacy is built, healing begins, and hope is always renewed.

Each day offers a devotional reflection, a scripture to anchor you, wisdom from trusted voices, and a suggested song. Together, they form a beautiful pattern of faith—woven with intercession, stillness, gratitude, and trust. Come. Bring your burdens, your joys, your questions. Let this be a sacred space where prayer becomes not just something you do, but who you are.

  • The Ministry of Midnight Prayer

“In the quiet, sleepless hours of the night, God may be inviting you into a sacred kind of prayer. Throughout Scripture, the night has been a place where God meets His people—where hearts wrestle, worship rises, and heaven feels close. Your restless moments may be more than interruptions; they may be God’s perfect timing to…

  • Praying Through the Fog

Even when memory fades, faith remains. “Praying Through the Fog” gently affirms that God hears the prayers we cannot articulate. Drawing from Psalm 139 and Max Lucado’s wisdom, this reflection comforts those navigating forgetfulness, reminding them that God’s love is not measured by mental clarity but by lifelong faithfulness. Whether you whisper a name or…

  • The Legacy of Intercession

Here’s the excerpt and tags for your post: Excerpt: As a senior, your role in family and church shifts from the visible task of doing to the essential task of interceding. • When Words Fail

When words no longer come and your heart can only sigh, prayer is still alive. God listens beyond language—He hears the longing beneath your silence. Even when your voice falters, the Holy Spirit carries your unspoken prayers to the heart of the Father.

  • The Power of Stillness

When God seems silent, it’s easy to feel forgotten. But stillness isn’t emptiness—it’s where deep trust begins. Like a seed growing underground, God often works quietly, shaping us in ways we can’t yet see. His silence is not rejection—it’s an invitation to rest, listen, and know Him more deeply.
